WIN Enterprises Announces a Low-voltage VIA-based Desktop Platform with 5x GbE LAN, CF and SATA

NORTH ANDOVER, MA, September 7, 2010: WIN Enterprises, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of embedded controllers and platforms for OEMs, announces the PL-80240, a desktop network security platform designed specifically for Internet security applications. It provides a compact, economical platform for OEMs addressing the SOHO (Small Office, Home Office), SMB (Small Medium Business), and ROBO (Remote Office, Branch Office) markets.

Designed around the VIA® VX800 chipset, the device supports the low-power VIA® Nano™, C7™ and Eden™ processors. CompactFlash™, DDR2 SO-DIMM, and MiniPCI expansion ports can be accessed and replaced to make product upgrades through an easily removable cover. The PL-80240 supports five PCIe x1 GbE LANs (Intel® 82574L, or Realtek® 8111DL) ports with optional bypass function on of the two ports. Each Ethernet interface has LED indicators for activity and transfer rate status. For easy access, the back panel has dual USB 2.0 ports and a RS-232 console port for local system management, maintenance and diagnostics. The PL-80240 has space to accommodate an optional slim-type 2.5" SATA SSD/HDD. The unit is FCC and CE compliant.
