The Problem: The Company had a successful prototype that had gained recognition and support from governmental agencies and at least one prime contractor. It now needed a manufacturable design. Pending sales opportunities depended upon fast time-to-market. In addition, the design had to meet the parameters of being ruggedized, small form factor, and have sufficient power in both processing speed and Wi-Fi broadcast capability to serve even major catastrophic events with high reliability.

The Solution: Upon industry recommendations, the Company approached WIN Enterprises as a ODM with the reputation of one that could design an economical, but sophisticated networking platform while providing fast time-to-market. WIN was able to contribute to the Company's total solution, from a custom ruggedized chassis to custom motherboard that supported video, wireless NIC and 4 Wi-Fi cards per unit. The motherboard is a custom form factor based on a WIN reference design that utilizes the high-performance, but economical and low-power AMD Geode LX800.

The chassis shown at left is a custom design. It is a rugged, cast-aluminum enclosure with integrated heat sink. WIN designed the enclosure, supervised its manufacture, and assembled the final solution. The advantage of dealing with WIN Enterprises is that we go beyond the typical ODM to encompass all facets of the project--even the loading and testing of software and fulfillment. This helps speed time-to-market and ensures high quality.
