WIN Enterprises Announces Expandable Networking Platform with Dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 Series Processors



 NORTH ANDOVER, MA, September 16, 2014: WIN Enterprises, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of embedded controllers and platforms for OEMs, announces the PL-80650, 2U networking platform. Powered by two Intel® Sandy Bridge-EP or Ivy Bridge-EP Xeon processors (code name, Coleto Creek). The platform was developed for high performance and robust scalability, expanding from a standard 2x GbE LAN ports to a maximum of 56 copper/fiber ports. .

The processors support Intel® QuickPath Interconnects running up to 8.0GT/s speeds. QuickPath provides a high-speed, point-to-point interconnect bus between processor and chipset that reduces memory socket latency and to increase performance. The E5-2600V2 series processor has up to 12 cores, 30MB cache, and up to 80 PCIe lanes. Each processor supports 4x DDR3 SDRAMs (up to 1600/1866 MHz) and a maximum memory capacity of up to 128 GB. In addition, PL-80650 supports one 2.5” SATA hard disk or solid state drive.

PL-80650 supports control and packet processing. It provides hardware acceleration in communications applications for more efficient cryptographic and compression performance. PL-80650 supports Intel Quick Assist® and the Intel® Communication chipset DH89xx. The wide selection of LAN expansion modules includes modules to support 10Gigabit SFP+, Gigabit copper with bypass function and Gigabit fiber ports. The maximum number of gigabit Ethernet ports supported by the PL-80650 is 56.

Typical OEM applications include Unified Threat Management, Enterprise Network Firewalls, Application Delivery Controllers, WAN Optimization Control and Intrusion Prevention. The unit is designed to be highly flexible in LAN support capacity, but can be further modified to support additional OEM requirements.
